Is It Too Late to Order Pellets This Winter?

UPDATE: Lead times for delivery service has changed from up to three weeks, to within 7-10 days! Call us at 1-800-735-5387 to place your order now…it’s not too late!

Pellets! The pellets shortage of 2014 has made it nearly impossible to find pellets this March. And even if you live in a region served by our home delivery service, the lead time has now reached three weeks in many areas. But is it too late to order? No.

What we have been telling customers is to “get in line” because nobody knows what might happen in the next couple weeks.

If the shortage ends abruptly and you don’t need the fuel – simply cancel the order. We don’t require any prepayment.

But if the winter continues even longer, or the shortage gets worse – you’ll be glad you secured your place in line.

New Wood Pellet Brands: PowerHouse, Easy Heat, and Trebio

We’re carrying three new brands so you can pick the perfect pellet for your needs. The new additions to our pellet family are:

PowerHouse Wood PelletsPowerHouse (Hardwood)
Available in the Mid-Atlantic
Power House Premium Wood Pellets are made from 100% select hardwoods local to Pennsylvania. The 2012 test results for both ash and moisture content have been consistently strong, and we know this pellet will have a “bright” future in your stove!
Easy Heat (Hardwood)
Available in Ohio
Buy Local! Easy Heat Wood Pellets are some of the best wood pellets available on the market today and are produced right here in Ohio. They have achieved a well-deserved reputation for solid heat output and consistency of both ash and moisture content. Less fiddling with your stove and more predictable heat output – what’s not to like about that!
 Trebio (Softwood)
Available in New Hampshire and New York
Trebio Softwood Pellets are a quality pellet that consistently exceed the premium wood pellet standards. The slightly darker color is a result of Trebio’s very thorough process of extracting moisture from the pellets. Excellent packaging, a consistent product, and the extra “boost” of heat output you’d expect from a softwood pellet.

State of NH makes it even easier to compare cost savings with wood pellets!

Exciting news! The  state of New Hampshire has added wood pellets to the list of fuels on its savings calculator, making it even easier to see just how much you’re saving with wood pellets instead of oil, propane, or other sources of heat. Just enter the current pricing of the fuels you want to compare, and voila! You have an instant calculation of cost per million BTU, letting you compare apples to apples and find out how much your heat actually costs.

Meet Corey Young, Pellet Expert

Hi everyone! Today, I sat down with Corey Young, one of the Pellet Experts here at WoodPellets.com. I got to ask Corey all about his experience working here and bonding with customers. Click on the video to hear what Corey has to say about our fabulous customers, or read the transcript below. And if you’ve had an experience with Corey, share it here!

AB:         Can you tell us how long you’ve been with WoodPellets.com?

CY:          I’ve been with WoodPellets.com just shy of three years now.

AB:         And what do you do here?

CY:          I’m a customer service agent, and I assist customers with my Pellet Expertise *winning smile*.

AB:         What’s your favorite thing about working here?

CY:          I’d say my favorite thing about working here is that not only are we trying to grow ourselves as a company, but we’re also trying to grow the industry as a whole for biomass fuels.

AB:         Great. And what do you like about working with WoodPellets.com customers in particular?

CY:          Working with WoodPellets.com customers, I really like building relationships with them and helping them make the best choices for their fuel. Since they made the investment in their stove, I want to make sure they’re using the proper fuel as well.

AB:         Now have you ever had an experience with your customers, anything different or interesting or kind of crazy?

CY:          Actually, yes. About a year or so ago, we gave away free Fisher Cats tickets for customer appreciation day. And it just so happened to be my birthday, so they let me throw out the first pitch. And lucky to say it went all the way to the plate, even though I’m not that good at sports at all. But they cheered me on!

AB:         And do you have a customer that sticks out in your mind, either a favorite customer or someone that you’ve kind of shared a bond with?

CY:          Yeah, actually, when I first started here about three years ago, a woman came in, and she was very nice and we got to talking. Since then, she’s come back for bags, but back then, after I first met her, I ended up going into a store later that week. And it just so happened that she was working behind the counter. I didn’t see her when I walked in, until she screamed my name: “Corey! I love pellets!” and threw her arms up in the air. It was a good time, it was fun.

AB:         So, if someone wanted to become one of your customers – or, I guess, one of your fans – what’s the best way for them to get in touch with you?

CY:          They can reach me here directly at 1-800-PELLETS, or they are more than welcome to email us through the Website, and I’d be more than happy to assist them.

Model Neighborhood Project helps NH residents cut heating costs by up to 50%!

The Northern Forest Center in Berlin, New Hampshire is launching a new program to support the local economy, reduce residents’ heating costs by up to 50%, and reduce environmental impacts associated with home heating.  The Model Neighborhood Project is sponsored by Berlin BetterBuildings, the City of Berlin, and Maine Energy Systems and funded by corporate and individual donors to cover up to 75% of the cost and installation of a wood pellet boiler system for local homeowners.

According to the Concord Monitor, the Model Neighborhood Project is hoping to help convert up to 40 homeowners in Berlin over the next two years. This means that 40 homes and/or municipal buildings are going to switch from fossil fuels to wood pellet heat… and we think that’s fabulous!

Think about it: for every home that switches from imported oil, that’s money saved each year (probably 40-50% of heating costs – our average customer saves nearly $700 a year by heating with wood pellets instead of oil)!; and 100% of the money each homeowner does spend on heat will stay in the local economy. And on top of the financial savings, that’s somewhere in the neighborhood of 7 tons of greenhouse gases saved per household, per year!

If you’re lucky enough to live in Berlin, NH, contact Mike Wilson at mwilson@northernforest.org for participation details. And if you don’t happen to live in Berlin, check out some of the great state & local programs sponsored in your area.
